AUTOCAD 2012 TUTORIAL 101

AUTOCAD 2012 101

STEPS

1) Start AutoCAD 2012.
2) The application creates a startup file for you “Drawing1.dw”. (Refer the Title Bar).
3) There is a “Ribbon” below the title Bar.
The ribbon consists of several parts.
One of them is the Draw Panel.
4) Draw Panel.
Draw Panel contains the object drawing tools.
The command buttons in the red box above shows common object drawing tools that include:
Line.
Polyline.
Circle.
Arc.
5) Line Command.
5.1) If you hover your mouse over the Line icon and pause for a long time, an information pop up appears.
5.2) Click the Line Command Button.
5.3) Click on anywhere within the Drawing Area, and follow the steps shown in Step 5.1.
Press Enter when you are done.
5.4) Press CTRL+Z to undo your drawing.
6) Circle.
6.1) Hover your mouse over the Circle Command Button and pause for a long time.
By default, you get the “Center,Radius” type.
6.2) Click the Circle Command Button.
6.3) Click on anywhere within the Drawing Area, and follow the steps shown in Step 6.1.
Click once again to end your action.
6.4) Press CTRL+Z to undo your drawing.
7) Arc Command.
7.1) Hover your mouse over the Arc Command Button and pause for a long time.
By default, you get 3-Point.
7.2) Click the Arc Command Button.
7.3) Click on anywhere within the Drawing Area, and follow the steps shown in Step 7.1.
7.4) Press CTRL+Z to undo your drawing.
8) Polyline Command.
8.1) Hover your mouse over the Polyline Command button and pause for a long time.
As the information pops-up tell you, you can combine line and arcs using this tool.
8.2) Click the Polyline Command button.
8.3) Make a series of steps…
..1) Click two points.
..2) Type “A” (or small “a”), press ENTER, move your mouse to another point and click.
..3) Type “L” (or small “l”), press ENTER, move your mouse to the starting point and click.
..4) To undo the last step, type “U” (or small “u”) and press ENTER.
8.4) Press CTRL+Z to undo everything.
Can you draw this?
9) Rectangle Command.
9.1) Hover your mouse over the Rectangle Command Button and pause for a long time.
9.2) Click on the button.
9.3) Click on anywhere within the Drawing Area, and follow the steps shown in Step 9.1.
10) Snap Mode.
 Try to draw the following objects.
10.1) Before you start, click on the Snap Mode button (located at the bottom of the application window).
The blue colour indicates that the mode is ON.
11) Grid Display.
11.1) Click the Grid Display button to turn OFF the Grip Display Mode.
11.2) As a result, the grid is hidden.
12) Saving and Closing.
12.1) Save your work.
Click A Button, click Save.
12.2) Save it in the My Documents folder.
12.3) Close your drawing.
13) Reopen your “Drawing1” file and rename as “BasicObjects”.
13.1) Click AutoCAD Start Button/Open/Drawing.


13.2) When “Drawing1” is loaded to the application window, click AutoCAD Start Button/Save As/AutoCAD Drawing.


13.3) Browse “My Document” folder. Type “BasicObjects” in the file name text box.
